Adult Paddling

Spring/Summer 2017 Programs:

Adult Intro to Flatwater Program (April to September)

This program is for paddlers who are new to the sport of sprint canoe/kayak. The learning objectives of this program include becoming familiar with sprint boats and equipment care, working on balance, and building an understanding of paddling technique through drills and workouts. Paddlers will also have opportunities to try team boats and participate in local races. Initial practices will be held inside Alder Bay but may extend outside of the bay, as paddlers become more comfortable. Paddlers are invited to come and try the sport for a month trial; if s/he decides to continue with the program, then the one month payment can be used towards the cost of the 3-month or 6-month program fee.

Sessions are held Saturdays and Sundays from April to September, from 11:00 – 12:30. Paddlers can attend one or both sessions each week to practice and develop their flatwater skills.

Practice Schedule:

  • Saturdays 11am-12:30pm
  • Sundays 11am-12:30pm
  • Note: Feel free to make what practices you can. Also, practices may be cancelled on regatta weekends. Paddlers will be notified ahead of time. See schedule for race dates.
