We are a fun group of outrigger paddlers called The HULIgans. We are an established program of the False Creek Racing Canoe Club (F.C.R.C.C.). We have been together as a team since 2011, and our membership is mostly Seniors (50+). However, we encourage people of any age to join our paddling sessions, so come on out and give us a try!
We meet twice a week throughout the year, rain or shine, Mondays and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. We leave the dock promptly at 9:30, with a return time, at the dock, of 11:15 a.m.
Ours is a competitive club, with a strong emphasis on fitness, endurance and stamina. We periodically have coached sessions to enhance our paddling technique. Crew safety is paramount, with planned safety drills held throughout the year. We paddle mostly out on our beautiful English Bay, and on our delightful False Creek, should the weather prove inclement.
All our members must be individual members of the F.C.R.C.C. (http://www.fcrcc.com/membership/individual-membership/) We currently have a team fee of $100 per member, subject to an annual review. For our prospective members, we allow two “try-out” sessions at no cost “to see if this is the team for you.”
As part of our short history, our members have raced in The World Sprints and won gold, silver & bronze medals. We have participated with two ladies teams in the renowned Queen Lili race in Hawaii. We are strong competitors in many of our local races.
