Our New Dragon Boat Rep
Say hello to Tim Wong ...
Tim has stepped up to take on the role of the Dragon Boat Discipline Representative on the FCRCC Executive Committee.
In that role, Tim will:
- Report on the status of the discipline and associated programs
- Update the Exec & membership on regattas, races, fundraising
- Communicate what is needed, wanted, etc., for the discipline
- Update the web site for all discipline matters
- Co-ordinate all related work projects – e.g., cleaning boats, etc.
As everyone knows, this is a volunteer position, and one of the key roles in the leadership of the Club. Please give Tim your support & encouragement. You can reach him at DragonBoat@fcrcc.com.
Tim's been involved in Dragon Boat paddling for only a few years – but he didn't follow the path most of us who get seriously into paddle sports did ... on a "that looks like fun, let's try it out" recreational team. Oh no! He started out right at the Competitive level, as a member of the Magnum team that did so well in recent years, competing nose-to-nose with the very best local teams, such as our High Performance Program crews.
Off the water, Tim competes in other sports such as badminton & golf. Professionally, he completed an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, and is now pursuing a CFA charter.
In his own words:
"Paddling with Magnum was actually my first year paddling, and I'm lucky to have been with some of the best paddlers around, in top-tier competitions.
I'm excited to meet managers and captains and everyone else in the paddling community, and to address any concerns over Dragon Boat related matters in FCRCC.
I'm still a new face in this sport and community, and would greatly appreciate feedback and guidance from the Exec team, and other leaders in the community."
