Whistler Dragon Boat Festival

This was held concurrent with the Nats, and a few DB Teams who call FCRCC home entered that instead, with good results.  Congtaulations to Starbucks Waverunners, TCC Dragoneers and TD Lightning!

 

Some highlights from the Nats:

- FCRCC HP Open setting the fastest times at 200m (44.67) & 500m (1:58.07)

- Magnum Masters of D'Zone winning the 2000m Open in 8:47.72

- FCRCC HP Women winning the 500m Final by 9+ seconds

- FCRCC HP Mixed doing 500m Final in the same time as HP Open, 1:58.12

- FCRCC HP Mixed setting the fastest 2000m time, at 8:42.03

- FCRCC Senior C Women finishing 2nd in the 500m Final by only 0.16 secs

- FCRCC Senior C Men just barely more than 10 minutes at 2000m, 10:01.03

- the Grand Dragons holding off The Eh Team in the 200m Final ... by only 0.43 secs

- although the majority of teams were from the Lower Mainland, there were some teams from Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal & Portland, who all did well

- FCRCC winning the overall-points Club title ... by quite a wide margain

- the crew from Ontario winning the Senior B Mixed National Team Trial on Friday, against a valiant Masters of D'Zone crew (this was the only category needing an NTT race-off)

Only one lo-light:

- the weather was more like March in the Creek, than Whistler in July ... cold, wet, windy most of all 3 days

Thanks to the Waters Edge folks, who organized things, marshalled & inspected crews, brought the boats & gear, announced the races & played music & interviewed passers-by & told jokes over the PA, timed the races, etc., etc. ... may you have better weather, next year!
