Dragon Boat Team Membership

DB Team membership is for teams wishing to practice in Dragon Boats on a regular weekly basis, and (if desired) to be able to use some of the Club's small boats for their paddlers' training programs, and/or for Time Trials.

Full details are in the Dragon Boat Team Membership and Practice Agreement form, available for download here .

Benefits

New for 2012

  • Teams who have one or more FCRCC Individual Members on their Roster qualify for a 5% discount, per Member, on Team fees
  • 2 additional no-charge single-practice timeslots per team, in any free slot, are included
  • Addtional single-practice timeslots may be obtained, for a fee of $50 or $100  (depends on day & time) per slot
  • A team may begin practising, even if before January 1st, as soon as a completed Practice Agreement, with initial payment of Team fees, has been submitted
  • Any available timeslot may be reserved by a team for their regular practices, before submitting a Practice Agreement, for a fee of $100 (non-refundable, but can be credited to Team fees)

Dragon Boats

All the Club's Dragon Boats (4 BuKs, 1 6-16) are available to all DB Teams.  Up to three DB practice timeslots per week are available to each team (or 3 slots/crew for teams with more than one crew, who register & pay as multple teams).

Practice Season

The practice season runs from January 1st through December 31st of each year.  A full year of practice timeslots may be chosen; or instead, timeslots from January to the end of June, or from July through October.

Coach Boat & Video Camera

Dragon Boat Teams may book one of the Club's two Granville Island coach boats, and the Club's video camera, for use during practices & Time Trials.

Marathon Canoes & ERG Machine

Team members may use the Marathon canoes & ERG Machine stored in the boat shed next to the Community Centre (West side).

Note that the Marathon canoes may be reserved by Club Members & Programs, and so those boats may not be available on a casual basis.

Important: prior to using the Marathon canoes, paddlers must attend an Orientation session.  The Club will schedule Orientation sessions from time to time as demand dictates.  Notices for regular sessions will be posted on the Club web site and outside the Club office.  As well, it may be possible to arrange a special "team" Orientation session for any team which requests it.

Teams wishing to book the Marathons for a Time Trial, or the ERG machine, may do so, though the Club office (admin@fcrcc.com).

False Creek Community Centre

DB Team Members may use the FCCC's change rooms, lockers, showers & saunas, and get discounts on the user fees in the FCCC's Fitness Centre

Teams can rent FCCC meeting rooms at the reduced rates, if the rental is done through the Club Office.

Please refer to the FCCC Information page for room details.

How to Join

  1. Please download & fill out the Dragon Boat Team Membership and Practice Agreement and submit it, along with a deposit of 50% of the appropriate DB team fee (per above tables), and your current Roster, at the Club office during normal hours.  This must be done before your first practice.
    •  Be sure to list your desired practices timeslot(s); available practice slots can be found by looking at the Dragon Boat practice schedule.
      • A team which has a current Agreement has priority on their current slot(s) until December 1st; after that, all slots are free, and will be alloted to whomever reserves or registers for it first.
    • You may reserve a practice slot or slots, before registering your team.
      • Slot reservations may be made starting October 15th; no form is needed - just your team name & contact info, and the deposit.
  2. The balance of your team fees are due by March 15th, along with an updated Roster.  If you are registering after March 15th, the full fee & current Roster are due before your first practice.
  3. Signed Individual Membership Forms for each team member (including Coach, Steersperson and Callers) who is not an FCRCC Individual Member, must be submitted before they get in a boat or use any Club equipment.
